The Differences Between The Ceramic Coating And Teflon Coating

Ceramic Coating and Teflon Coating are two very different things. Ceramic Coating is a process that applies an extremely hard, and durable ceramic shell to the metal surface. Teflon Coating is a nano-technology that coats the metal surface with an ultra-thin, durable fluoropolymer film.

The following are some of the differences between the ceramic coating and Teflon coating:

1. Ceramic coating is stronger and more abrasion resistant then Teflon coating

Another one of the biggest factors in favor of Teflon is that it's a nano-technology and therefore much stronger than any other comparable material on the market. It's how it actually applies onto the metal surface that makes it so strong. Many other coatings can also be used with the same metal, like chrome or ceramic but they are not nano-technology, which results in inferior result if any.

2. Ceramic coating is more scratch resistant, while Teflon coating is harder

Both coatings are strong and durable but because of Ceramic's hardness it will resist scratches better than Teflon. However, scratches that can penetrate through the Teflon coating will go deeper into the metal. This means if you prefer a more customized look to your device, consider ceramic coatings as they can be sanded down with ease, while the Teflon coatings are not so easy to work on and can only be removed by other means like stripping or grinding off.

3. Ceramic coating is easier to apply, but Teflon coating is more efficient

Ceramic coating is a very unique process in that it's self-adhesive and will not require any glue. It's also able to be sprayed, brushed or applied via airbrush. This means it can be applied quickly and easily without having to use messy adhesives, unlike Teflon coating which has to be applied with a gun. Both coatings are equally easy to apply however, so this is a matter of personal preference for the type of look that you want on your device.

4. Teflon has a built-in corrosion resistance, while Ceramic coating is easy to clean

This one comes to the surface of your mind when you think about which coating is better for devices like phones. Because of its durability, Teflon coatings can stand up to much more than Ceramic can. The top coat is extremely hard and resists scratches and being easily scratched by keys, coins etc. Because of this it will have a much longer lifetime than ceramic coatings which are very susceptible to scratching and wearing down over time. If you want a coating that will last as long as possible, then Teflon would be the right choice for you.

5. Ceramic coating is tougher and more durable than Teflon coating

Ceramic coatings are coated onto the metal surface much thinner than Teflon coatings. This means that they not only offer greater protection against light scratches, but they will also have a much longer life because their thickness is no where near as thick as that of Teflon coatings. However, apart from this, both coatings are extremely strong and durable so you won't feel like you're missing out on any other capabilities if you decide to go another way.
